At NBA.com the headline says: Knicks Officially Trade Carmelo Anthony to Thunder. After wild speculation (it’s New York, after all) about where the former Knicks forward would end up — and rumors that Anthony’s no-trade clause made James Harden’s Houston the only choice — Anthony was moved to the Thunder to join NBA MVP Russell Westbrook and newly acquired ex-Pacer Paul George. It’s yet another attempt to build a super-team through trades, and this one looks like it moves the Thunder way up the ladder. Though the trade only “officially” happened today, NBA fans knew where Anthony was headed yesterday.
[Style Drivers: Russell Westbrook’s say on style]
Anthony is going to an OKC Thunder that is definitively Russell Westbrook’s team. And every Thunder fan wants to know what the always interesting Westbrook thinks about the deal. Westbrook has been busy promoting his new style book, appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres show and making the rounds. That may account for his silence on the trade. Or maybe it’s just too soon. We can probably expect Russ to welcome Melo to town soon, but so far Westbrook’s 4.88 million Twitter followers haven’t heard. And let’s be clear: what Russell Westbrook thinks of the Carmelo Anthony deal means everything. But it’s probably also safe to assume that deal never happens if Westbrook didn’t like it.
