PBS is celebrating America’s birthday and televising a number of musical acts on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol on the Fourth of July. Actor John Stamos (Grandfathered, Full House) is hosting A Capitol Fourth which features several musicians including country singer Trace Adkins, Disney actress Sofia Carson, and Chris Blue, winner of The Voice, Season 12, who sings “America the Beautiful.”
Blue, 27, is the youngest of seven children and was raised in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he became a worship leader. When he auditioned for The Voice in 2017, he sang the Smokey Robinson and The Miracles song “The Tracks of My Tears” and won the heart of judge Alicia Keys (video below). During the Live Finals, Blue performed the Prince song “Diamonds and Pearls” with Keys. On The Voice, Blue spoke about his fiancée Stephanie who battled bone marrow cancer and has inspired him to pursue his music career. A Capitol Fourth will air on July 4 at 8pm on PBS.
