After a 29-year hiatus, The Battle of the Network Stars is back on primetime TV. The star-studded show featured actors across all three major networks at the time (ABC, NBC, and CBS) who had fun compete against each other in athletic events like a relay race. Back in the 70s, Americans tuned in to watch gorgeous stars like Farrah Fawcett (Charlie’s Angels) run in tight t-shirts and short shorts. Sports announcer Howard Cosell, Olympian Bruce Jenner, and NFL player O.J. Simpson were the original co-hosts. Yes, you read that correctly.
In the premiere episode of The Battle of the Network Stars, 2017, former child stars will compete against sitcom stars including actress AJ Michalka. The 26-year-old actress is best known for her roles as Lainey Lewis on The Goldbergs on ABC, Clarissa in the film The Lovely Bones and as Kate Tweedy in Secretariat. The Battle of the Network Stars airs Thursdays at 9pm on ABC.
