One of the talented singers auditioning for a spot on The Voice Season 12 is Missy Robertson. The soul you hear in her voice comes from her “church roots.” She is the daughter of preacher Randy Robertson, who according to Missy has been preaching since he was 7 years old. “I don’t know a better example to imitate except Christ,” Missy wrote when her father celebrated 50 years of preaching in 2014. Missy and her father are both pastors at Impact Church.
The Sacramento-native singer/songwriter counts fellow daughter of a preacher Aretha Franklin as a vocal influence. Missy also likes to sing Alicia Keys songs including her “Holy War” (see video below). The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
This man, my dad is celebrating 50 years of preaching tomorrow. He is turning 57 years old tomorrow and started preaching at the age of 7. He has never compromised or given up on the Lord but has followed after God his entire life. He has given his life for God and for others. I don’t know a better example to imitate except Christ. Love him and respect him and am honored to be his daughter.
