Lila and Eve is the 2015 psychological thriller starring two of Hollywood’s most popular leading ladies – Viola Davis (Lila) and Jennifer Lopez (Eve). Davis (also executive producer on the film) and Lopez portray two distraught mothers in Atlanta whose children were killed in drive-bys. They meet at a support group for bereaved women. Frustrated with the lack of progress made by the police, they team up to avenge the deaths of their children.
The film, which The Hollywood Reporter called “an instant camp classic, especially because it takes itself so adorably seriously,” was directed by Charles Stone III. Stone is known for directing the 2002 marching-band movie Drumline starring Nick Cannon, the 2013 VH1 TV movie CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story, and creating the 1999 Budweiser “Whassup?” commercial (see below). The ad was based on Stone’s short film True. (Stone is the first guy seen in the ad.) Lila and Eve will premiere on Lifetime on January 30 at 8pm. It will air again on January 31 at 12am and 9pm, and February 1 at 1am.
