On the Fresh off the Boat episode “We Done Son,” Eddie Huang (Hudson Yang) shows up for his part-time job and is pleasantly surprised to see his client is rapper DMX. When DMX opens the door while holding his baby, Eddie exclaims, “DMX!” To which the rapper replies, “I prefer to be called Earl when holding my baby.” When Eddie tells Earl that he can’t wait to tell his friends, DMX insists that he sign a nondisclosure agreement. When he passes the document to Eddie, Earl says, “It’s the same one Oprah used on Stedman.”

Eddie’s responsibilities include adding lanolin oil drops to his daughter’s cloth diapers. When Eddie asks why DMX/Earl doesn’t use disposable diapers, DMX replies, “I ain’t trying to leave some big ass carbon footprint.” At the end of the day, when the rapper drops Eddie home, they bump into Eddie’s girl who tells the rapper that she’s been arranging his explicit “Ghetto Life” song on her piccolo. Without missing a beat, DMX says, “I actually wrote Ghetto Life on the piccolo.” Fresh off the Boat airs Tuesdays at 8:30pm on ABC.
