In the TV movie Driven Underground, a jogger named Christy Palmer witnesses a man being shot, execution style, in the woods. Christy outruns the killer and later identifies him in a lineup. Christy is then terrorized by the killer’s mafia associates. “Testify and you’re dead,” reads one message thrown into her house with a rock. Christy’s mother, Sarah, decides to pick up the family and move to Oregon where they go completely off the grid. The plan backfires when the police can’t find the Palmers before the mob does.
The mother, Sarah Palmer, is portrayed by Kristy Swanson. She’s best known for her role as Buffy in the 1992 film, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. More recently Swanson portrayed Marlowe Viccellio in the TV series Psych, and she’s appeared in the films Big Daddy, Dude, Where’s My Car, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Fun fact about Swanson: Her first recurring role was as Jody Campbell in the 1980s nighttime soap opera Knots Landing. Driven Underground will air on LMN on October 31 at 8pm, November 1 at 12am, and November 2 at 4pm.
