On Season 7 of The Good Wife, one of the equity partners of Lockhart, Agos and Lee isn’t happy. Howard Lyman, the oldest partner at the firm, is considered a loose cannon – he takes naps in his office in his underwear, and speaks inappropriately to women and minorities. But when Howard feels he’s getting the shaft from the young Cary Agos (Matt Czuchry), Howard pushes back. In the episode “Cooked”, Howard approaches his former colleague Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) to file an ageism suit against the law firm. And while he’s at it, Howard flirts with Alicia’s mother-in-law Jackie Florrick (Mary Beth Peil).
Howard is portrayed by Jerry Adler. The 86-year-old, Brooklyn-born actor is best known for his roles on The Sopranos (Hesh), Rescue Me (Sidney Feinberg), Mad About You (Mr. Wicker), Raising Dad with Bob Saget (Sam Stewart), and Northern Exposure (Rabbi Schulman). He also starred in the Woody Allen film Manhattan Murder Mystery and more recently in A Most Violent Year. The Good Wife airs Sundays at 9:30pm on CBS.
