Caltech string theorist Barry Kripke reappears in Season 9 of The Big Bang Theory. In the episode “The Perspiration Implementation,” the unlikable colleague of Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons) gives the guys fencing lessons. While explaining what a “touch” is, Barry lets it be known to Sheldon that he’s interested in dating Sheldon’s ex, Amy (Mayim Bialik). Big Bang Theory fans will remember that last season Amy shared her insight on neuronal conductivity and how it’s applicable to string theory — which made Barry’s research paper a big hit.
Barry Kripke is portrayed by John Ross Bowie. The New York native actor has appeared in several TV shows including CSI, Charmed, Arrested Development, Psych, Monk, and Reno 911!, among others. Most recently he had recurring roles on ABC Family’s Chasing Life (Paul), Showtime’s Episodes with Matt Le Blanc, and House of Lies (Spalding Winter). The Big Bang Theory airs Mondays at 8pm on CBS.
