Phil Jackson’s vaunted triangle offense, which he hired Derek Fisher to teach to the New York Knicks, is a difficult-to-learn motion offense that won six championships for the Bulls and five for the Lakers. The Knicks had no such success in the team’s first year under Jackson and head coach Fisher, who played under Jackson in LA.
But reports out of Los Angeles say that Derek Fisher is still working the triangle, even off the court. His latest move with three angles is allegedly his courtship of the wife of his former teammate Matt Barnes. Barnes, who now plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, reportedly showed up this week at his wife’s house after learning from one of his kids that Fisher was there at a party. Barnes and his wife, Gloria Govan, are estranged but not divorced. Reports said there was a scuffle between Barnes and Fisher. There’s another thing the Knicks could learn from Fisher besides commitment to the triangle. They need to get physical if they hope to make an impact in the Eastern Conference.
