There are Gucci belts worth$485. Fendi belts worth $490. Tom Ford belts for $840. Prada for $495. But even Floyd Mayweather, as big a spender as there is, balked at the price of his WBO belt. The rules of the World Boxing Organization required Mayweather to pay $200,000 to keep the WBO belt and title — a title he won by beating Manny Pacquiao. (Mayweather also holds belts from the WBC and WBA, other boxing governing bodies.)
Mayweather pretty much said: what for? I’m the champ. Nobody thinks otherwise. Who are you to ask for $200,000 from me? I don’t need your okay that I’m the champ. Your WBO belt? Don’t need it. It’s a fact that Floyd Mayweather is the champ, belt or not. That’s Mayweather’s reasoning. Even 50 Cent might agree.
