Hannibal has been pent up for three years at the Baltimore State Hospital when a new villain, a brutal serial killer emerges in one Francis Dolarhyde aka The Great Red Dragon. (Ralph Fiennes played the character in the 2002 film Red Dragon.)
Francis is portrayed by Richard Armitage. Americans will recognize the Englishman from The Hobbit movie franchise (Thorin) and Captain America; The First Avenger (Heinz Kruger). Armitage is currently filming the biopic Brain on Fire, which is based on Susannah Cahalan’s memoir Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness. Chloe Grace Moretz will portray Susannah, the 24-year-old New York Post reporter who lost her mind for one month due to a mysterious illness. Armitage plays Susannah’s father. Hannibal airs Sundays at 10pm on NBC.
