Michael Keaton had his acceptance speech in hand, it appears, as the Best Actor Oscar was called out. He swiftly and probably a little sadly put it back in his jacket pocket, next to his heart.
Keaton had good reason to believe he’d win–Birdman won Best Picture and its director Alejandro G. Iñárritu won Best Director. We have a pretty good idea of the emotional content of the speech he would have given, too, though we’ll never know. Here’s the sad Vine of Keaton putting the paper away–sad for his fans, that is.
