The legendary, moustached actor Burt Reynolds (Boogie Nights, Striptease, Smokey and the Bandit, Deliverance) is auctioning more than 600 personal items in order to deal with his financial problems. From his Golden Globe for best supporting actor in Boogie Nights to a monogrammed carriage gifted by Dolly Parton, the Bandit will sell his prized possessions at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas on December 11 and 12. Even the red leather jacket he wore in Smokey and the Bandit II!
In addition to the auction, the 78-year-old actor is also writing a memoir, to be released in 2015. No word on how all of this will affect the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theater, a not-for-profit organization in Lake Park, Florida, where Reynolds still teaches acting classes.
