Lots of smart football people marked this game on the calendar as a virtual Big 12 Championship game. And lots of people were wrong. That title will probably be decided today–the smart people had the day right–but it’ll be decided in Fort Worth, where No. 6 TCU hosts No. 7 Kansas State. Both those teams are vying for a playoff spot, which makes the Oklahoma vs. Baylor match-up an also-ran sort of game. It’s in the shadows. But wait…
With just one loss and so much happening today among top 25 teams, No. 12 Baylor retains an outside chance at a playoff spot. (Condoleeza Rice, a playoff selector, is said to have a soft spot for the Bears.) TV –and playoffs–like offense. Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty really airs it out–Baylor averages 349 passing yards per game–and they’ll be going for broke in this very early time slot. If Baylor can hang a bunch of points on Oklahoma like last year (41-12, Baylor over OU), they can own this action-filled day from the outset. With a big game on this very big day, Baylor could conceivably be home and showered up for the rest of the day’s action, having elevated the entire perception of its team and its football program. Baylor is 2-21 against OU lifetime. Things change, is what Baylor hopes to prove today. Especially to Condie. No. 12 Baylor (6-1) @ No. 15 Oklahoma (6-2) 12:00 PM FOX Sports 1
