Vocal phenom Nikki Yanofsky is best known in Canada for singing the song I Believe at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The song reached number one on the Canadian Hot 100 list which made her the first Canadian artist to have a number one song on that list since Avril Lavigne’s Girlfriend topped the chart in 2007. The song went “Quadruple Platinum” for digital downloads. This week, Nikki is making her debut on American television — the 20-year-old will perform her song Necessary Evil on Dancing With the Stars, October 27, at 8pm on ABC.
Since her success with I Believe, Nikki, who’s influenced by the jazz vocals of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, has partnered with the legendary American hit maker Quincy Jones who has produced her latest album, Little Secret. Critic Christopher Loundon of Jazz Times wrote: “It’s slick and polished, thanks to the involvement of executive producer Quincy Jones, who certainly knows a thing or two about boosting careers toward pop stardom.”
