Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, The Help, The Tree of Life) plays Melissa Lewis in Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi thriller The Martian. Melissa’s job at NASA is to bring Matt Damon–an astronaut stranded by himself on Mars–back to earth. Chastain’s character will get assistance from Parks and Recreation’s Donald Glover (aka Childish Gambino) who has joined the cast of The Martian along with Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara and Jeff Daniels. The Martian is set to hit theaters in November 2015.
The Martian will be Chastain’s second sci-fi film. In Christopher Nolan’s hotly anticipated sci-fi film Interstellar, Chastain surpasses the limitations on human space travel and conquers the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage with co-stars Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway. “The end of Earth will not be the end of us,” is the tagline. Interstellar will be released on November 7.
