Grammy-nominated drummer Sheila E. has released her autobiography – The Beat of My Own Drum. In it she reveals that she was once engaged to Prince and “pretty much” engaged to guitarist Carlos Santana. She was 18 at the time, Carlos was 36. Today she refers to it as “a wonderful romance.”
Sheila E. told Billboard that she dated a lot of other guys – clearly she had a thing for guys with guitars, and hinted that those stories will come in another book. Wendy Holden helped Sheila E write her first autobiography. Holden has also ghost-written Barbara Sinatra’s memoir, Lady Blue Eyes, and Goldie Hawn’s A Lotus Grows in the Mud. Both were New York Times bestsellers.
