Metal band Slipknot has released a new song called “The Negative One.” It’s available for streaming on the band’s official website. Their new album-not yet named–is due later this fall via Roadrunner Records. It will be Slipknot’s fifth studio album and the first one without late bassist Paul Gray, who died in 2010, and drummer Joey Jordison who was “dismissed” in 2013.
It’s been six years since the last album and so far with this first new tune Slipknot hasn’t disappointed their loyal fans. At Skullsnbones, Tom Hanno writes: “A return to some old school Slipknot sounds. Fuck yeah!” And z fleming at MetalInjection.net writes: “It’s tense, brutal and broods everything about ‘Iowa’ that I remember. It incorporates more raw sound but also brings back the unrelenting tenacity of their more heavier stuff.” More good news for Slipknot fans: a music video will be released August 5.
