Colombian-born footballer James Rodriguez has been in news all summer long. He won the Golden Boot award at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil after netting six goals in five matches, and just signed a major, six-year deal with Spain’s legendary club Real Madrid. He’s a popular guy. Within just 48 hours, Real Madrid sold 345,000 ‘James’ replica shirts. Sports marketing experts expect Real Madrid to sell ‘James’ product at the same level as Cristiano Ronaldo who has sold over a million shirts since arriving at Real Madrid last year.
Real Madrid will need to recoup some of the reported £71million it paid to Monaco for Rodriguez.
