On the heels of the Whitey Bulger trial comes a new TV series about the tough neighborhoods of Boston and the crews (that’s gangs) who run them. Entering potentially rough waters during the first post-Sharknado Shark Week, the Discovery Channel will premiere Saint Hoods on August 2 at 10pm. The producers got unprecedented access to three of Boston’s most powerful crews – Southie, Roslindale and Dorchester – who vie for Beantown’s plentiful take in sports gambling. (The leader of Southie, Pat Nee, is famed for his age-old battles with Bulger himself.)
Saint Hoods is produced by MAK Pictures, the same company that recently released the documentary series Blade Brothers about a family who makes a lucrative living by making one-of-a-kind knives, and Cajun Justice, the A&E reality show that follows the detectives and deputies of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Department which covers 2,000 square miles of treacherous swampland in Louisiana.
