If you like funny girls, porn stars, reality TV stars AND you like to read books–you may not know it but you’re part of the It crowd. It Books, that is. The HarperCollins imprint is catering to those fascinated by Molly Ringwald (“When It Happens To You”), porn star Jenna Jameson (“How To Make Love Like A Porn Star”), Real Housewife Caroline Manzo (“Let Me Tell You Something”) and – bound to rival Tina Fey’s bestselling “Bossypants” – Amy Poehler’s first book, which will be out in 2014.
It Books is all about “it” people, but that doesn’t mean flash-in-the-pan. Look at the venerable names they’ve got on the spring list. They’ve got the paperback rights to Robert Evans’ memoir “The Kid Stays in the Picture” (boy, does he!) and Wyclef Jean’s hybrid inspirational/confessional memoir “Purpose,” plus a first edition of the “definitive” biography of Dennis Hopper (“Hopper: A Journey into the American Dream”) will arrive with the daffodils. As scriptwriter Elinor Glyn said in the introduction to the 1927 film “It,” starring the original “It Girl” Clara Bow: “It can be a quality of the mind as well as a physical attraction.”
