In the Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta episode ‘You Don’t Work With Rihanna’, while Brandon and Reginae get into it at Zonnique’s photo shoot, Ms. Deb tells Shad “Bow Wow” Moss that she knew his dad, Alfonso Preston Moss. Shad’s dad is from Columbus, Ohio, where Shad was born. Shad’s mother, who’s from Atlanta, and his stepfather raised Shad.
Later in the episode, when Bow Wow is working in the studio, his dad walks in. Bow Wow doesn’t get out of his chair. “What the f—k are you doing here?” he asks his father. “I haven’t seen you forever and then you come in here? That’s gutsy.” Shad hasn’t been shy when it comes to talking about his strained relationship with his father. In 2012 he told Vibe magazine, “My father is a disappointment” and that he doesn’t consider him family. His father replied to the article on his blog, and asked his son to stop throwing him under the bus. Growing Up Hip Hop Atlanta airs Thursdays at 9pm on WE.
