The My 600-lb Life episode “Diana’s Story” features 55-year-old Diana Bunch of Seattle, Washington. Her sister has arranged to put Diana in the backseat of her mini-van and drive for two days straight through to Houston, Texas to meet with gastric bypass surgeron Dr. Nowzaradan. When they finally reach the hotel, Diana’s sister has to call for “non-urgent” assistance in lifting Diana from the mini-van and into the hotel room. “It’s embarrassing that I’m so big that I can’t even get out of a vehicle by myself.”
Six EMT workers show up from South Davis Metro and get her inside and on the bed. One of the EMTs asks Diana, “You alright?” She says, “I’m in bed — I’m great.” Before leaving, they say cheerfully, “See you tomorrow morning.” Diana admits, “If I had known how hard this was to do, I’m not sure I would have made the decision to go to Houston.” My 600-lb Life airs Wednesdays at 8pm on TLC.
