Safe Catch is a food company out of Sausalito, California that tests fish for mercury before canning and selling it. High levels of mercury in fish is unsafe to consume, particularly for children and pregnant women. Safe Catch claims its product is “the lowest mercury tuna of any brand.” The two founders of Safe Catch, childhood friends Bryan and Sean, use proprietary technology to test every fish they catch for mercury levels. They will demonstrate the technology on Shark Tank (November 4).
Safe Catch sells a six-pack of their canned tuna for $23.99; a six-pack of canned albacore is $29.99; and a 12-pack of their single serving pouches is $39.99 (3oz. pouches). Free shipping is offered on all ground orders in the continental U.S. Safe Catch also offers a monthly subscription package which saves customers up to 30 percent, e.g., a six-pack of tuna is $20.99/month.
