Marti Wymer of Salt Lake City, Utah is the founder of Spoonful of Comfort, a company that delivers Chicken Noodle or Tomato Basil (Mushroom coming soon!) soup overnight. “If you can’t mail a hug, this is the next best thing,” says the website. The idea for the business came to Wymer when her mother was diagnosed with lung cancer. Wymer remembers feeling helpless being so far away. “I looked into sending flowers or fruit, but nothing seemed appropriate. I wanted to show her how much I cared, and in some way comfort her.”
A Spoonful of Comfort package includes a 64-oz jar of soup (4-6 servings), 6 bacci rolls, 6 gourmet cookies (chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, sugar), and a ladle. Packages start at $70. If you want to add tea, honey, or a cozy blanket, those cost extra. Wymer will pitch Spoonful of Comfort on the Season 8 premiere of Shark Tank which airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC.
