In the Lifetime movie Wild Oats, widow Eva (Shirley MacLaine) receives a life insurance check for $5 million instead of $50,000. Clearly, it’s a big mistake but Eva’s best friend Maddie (Jessica Lange) convinces her to cash it. When the check clears, Eva and Maddie set out for Spain to live the high life. There, they meet a charming, wealthy Scotsman.
The Scot is portrayed by Billy Connolly. The 73-year-old standup comedian has released more than 30 albums. As an actor, Americans will recognize him from his roles in the films The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (Dain), White Oleander (Barry Kolker), The Last Samurai (Zebulon Gant), and A Series of Unfortunate Events (Uncle Monty), among others. Connolly is also known from his TV role as Billy MacGregor on Billy and Head of the Class (which also starred Howard Hesseman who plays the insurance agent in Wild Oats!).
