For the second year in a row, rapper Crown and the M.O.B. (Message of the Blues) will be the house band at the televised ESPY Awards. This year the Brooklyn native and his band get to perform with Grammy-nominated singer Andra Day. Day is expected to perform her inspirational song ‘Rise Up.’
Crown and the M.O.B. are known for their uplifting music, too. They recently released the single, “Love My People.” After the shooting of five Dallas police officers, Crown wrote on Facebook: “I just feel the country needs this right now. We absolutely need LOVE in the air during times like these. Mixed messages with the media, inner city and govt. We have to someday come to an even playing field and gain some understanding of trust for one another. It’s time to be responsible Americans and hold ourselves accountable for OUR issues. LETS FIND LOVE out there. Share this and spread the love if you are tired of HATE. Let’s LOVE again.” Watching their “Roam” video (below) will help lift your spirit, too. The ESPY Awards will air July 13 at 8pm on ABC.
