There’s been a Hamburger Mary’s Bar and Grill in Denver since 2005. In addition to its tasty burgers, the gay-friendly restaurant was known for its Drag Queen Bingo. But in December 2015, the Hamburger Mary’s at 700 E. 17th Avenue in Denver changed its name to M Uptown. According to general manager Jeff Kustok, he and Hamburger Mary’s couldn’t agree on the franchise contract including the royalty fees.
Kustok says while some of the décor has been stowed away in the "Queen Mary" banquet room, the menu and nightly events have remained the same. What will keep other Hamburger Mary’s franchisees from following suit? The idea might cross some minds while watching Hamburger Mary’s Bar and Grille co-owners Ashley and Brandon Wright (their identical twins) on Undercover Boss. The episode will air Sunday, May 15 at 9pm on CBS.
