Husband and wife Gary and Jan Tyrrell were found dead in their Springfield, Missouri home on May 1, 2014. Gary, 60, was shot twice. Jan, 61, was bludgeoned with a rare engraved walrus tusk. Gary Tyrrell was a collector of rare objects including valuable coins. Shortly before the Tyrrells were found dead, Gary’s friend Mark Porter who had “gambling issues” asked Gary for a $250,000 loan. One day after the Tyrrells were discovered, Porter sold $18,000 worth of silver coins to a local shop.
Porter pleaded guilty to both murders and is serving two consecutive life sentences. Dateline NBC will air its investigative report about “The Collector” on February 21 at 7pm.The BEST SALES on Amazon NOW ]
