Five young rappers compete for a record contract on Lifetime’s new reality show, The Rap Game. Produced by rapper Queen Latifah and Jermaine Dupri, the five kids (aged 12-17) undergo an eight-week boot camp in Atlanta with Dupri. Dupri has experience promoting young acts — he launched the wildly successful teen duo Kris Kross in the early 1990s and Lil Bow Bow. One of the five kids will get a contract with Dupri’s label So So Def.
One of the competitive rappers on The Rap Game is Young Lyric aka Lyrikkal. The 15-year-old from Houston, Texas got her first taste of success when her video “Pink and Purple” (see below) went viral. With more than 74,000 YouTube subscribers, Young Lyric continues to post popular videos including her latest “Fresh on the Scene” (see below). Last year, she was named the “Best 14-Year-Old Rapper” by WorldStarHipHop.com viewers. On The Rap Game, Young Lyric’s momanger Olivia “will do whatever it takes to get her daughter to the next level.” The Rap Game airs Fridays at 10pm on Lifetime.
