In the TV movie The Breaks, three aspiring hip-hop artists -- Nikki Jones, David Aaron, and DeeVee -- are trying to break into the hip-hop industry in 1990s New York City. Nikki (Afton Williamson) gave up a scholarship to law school in order to take an internship at record label Fouray Entertainment. Her boyfriend David is the son of Juggy, a mover-and-a-shaker in the biz, but David doesn't want nepotism to play a part of his career. And producer Deevee (Tristan Wilds) is out to find the next big rapper. The movie is based on Dan Charnas’ 2011 book The Big Payback.
David is portrayed by David Call. He’s best known for his roles on Smash (Adam), Fringe (Nick Lane), Gossip Girl (Ben Donovan), Rescue Me (Connor Gavin), Mercy (Paul Kempton), and Army Wives (Corporal Ryan “Mac” McCallen). The Breaks premieres on VH1 on January 4 at 9pm.
