Scott Gerber, CEO of Gerber Group, the family-run company that owns more than a dozen chic hotel bars including The Whiskey, will appear on Undercover Boss. Scott and his brothers Rande and Kenny founded the company in the early 1990s with the help of their father, the late Jordan “Jordy” Gerber. On Undercover Boss, Scott says his father was “the soul of our business” as the primary point of contact between management and the employees. Scott is doing his best to fill in for his father on the job, but as Undercover Boss reveals, it’s not easy to do what Jordy did.
Brooklyn-born Jordan Gerber was the founder of The New York Jean Company, where he got the nickname “The King of Jeans.” When he retired from the jeans business, he helped his sons launch the Gerber Group. According to his obituary, “The familial relationship Jordy built with his employees helped foster the outstanding customer service that has become a trademark of the Gerber Group’s success.” Jordan Gerber died from a sudden illness in 2009. He was 70. Undercover Boss airs Fridays at 8pm on CBS.
