The Enfield Haunting is a new TV mini-series about the bizarre events that took place in a house in Enfield, North London. Set in August 1977, two members of the Society for Psychical Research – inventor Maurice Grosse (Timothy Spall) and writer Guy Playfair – investigate the house. Playfair asks a medium for help, which Grosse does not approve of.
Guy Playfair is portrayed by Matthew Macfadyen. Americans will recognize him from the films Anna Karenina (Oblonsky) with Keira Knightley and Jude Law, The Three Musketeers (Athos) with Milla Jovovich and Orlando Bloom, Robin Hood (Sheriff of Nottingham) with Russell Crowe, and in Ron Howard’s Frost/Nixon (John Birt). The Enfield Haunting airs Fridays at 10pm on A&E.
