In Western pop culture consciousness, Iman was the name of the gorgeous multilingual supermodel and human rights activist who married David Bowie — after she married 1970s NBA star Spencer Haywood. But the Iman in the public eye more often recently — at least in America — is Iman Shumpert, an NBA shooting guard who played for the New York Knicks before joining LeBron James for a run at the NBA championship last year. Iman is a common name for both men and women, but Shumpert just announced an interesting twist.
Posting an ultrasound of his daughter — due to arrive in January — Iman Shumpert announced that he and her mother have decided to name the girl, Iman Jr. It’s a great name for a girl, of course. But is she really a junior? All best wishes to the Shumpert family and a warm welcome to Iman Jr. Iman the expectant dad writes that “When a man loves a woman how she was born to be loved…procreation is the best blessing you can receive!”
