One of the American Ladies of London, Marissa Hermer, has become a restaurateur. She recently opened Top Dog in London’s Soho where she’s selling “custom-built” hot dogs, fries and shakes. Yes, it’s American fare but “with the best British ingredients and free-range, grass-fed meat.” Plus, it’s not all beef. Pork and vegan tofu options are available too. Toppings include chili, cheese, coleslaw, and kimchi.
Hermer isn’t new to the restaurant business. She helped Ian Schrager launch a number of his restaurants and nightclubs in the US. Plus, she’s married to London nightclub owner (Boujis) Matt Hermer. Marissa says Top Dog is popular because “It has this glitter and glamour that British food doesn’t. There is something about biting into a cheeseburger or sticking a straw into a root beer float that makes you feel you are in glamorous Hollywood rather than in the suburbs of drizzly Britain.” Ladies of London airs Mondays at 10pm on Bravo.
