Alex Kandel is the 22-year-old singer from Bowling Green, Kentucky on The Voice. She has a great resume as lead singer of the alternative rock band Sleeper Agent. They made their TV debut on Jimmy Fallon Late Night and performed on Late Night with David Letterman. But the band hit a plateau and decided to go their separate ways. For Kandel, The Voice is an opportunity to try a solo career.
On The Voice she sang "Bright." Her performance wasn’t perfect but judges Gwen Stefani and Adam Levine turned around. After the song, she admitted to being a little nervous. It was the first time she performed without her Sleeper Agent bandmates. That’s an experience Gwen Stefani can relate to and used when pitching Kandel. And she did so successfully. Kandel choose “her idol” Gwen. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
