Get ready to say “Beetlejuice” three times because Winona Ryder has confirmed that there will be a sequel to the comic horror classic. Speaking to Seth Meyers, the actress said that although “it was very hush-hush, top secret,” director Tim Burton had announced a sequel and that Ryder will return. Presumably star Michael Keaton is also on board, although Ryder admitted she had no more information about the planned sequel.
The actress, who turns 44 this October, is amazed that children still approach her about the film, which was made in 1988. “I love that. I’m so touched by that. How do they know? … They love Beetlejuice. It must mean there’s something very pure about it.” Ryder also said that at airports she is often asked by security guards to say “Beetlejuice” three times before she is allowed to go through.
