Whoopi Goldberg has been a staunch defender of Bill Cosby despite the more than forty women who have come forward claiming Cosby assaulted them. Goldberg, while not a lawyer, has been part of what one might nevertheless call Cosby's defense team. The defenders work in the court of public opinion, rather than courts of law, and until recent recent revelations (unsealed 2005 testimony) the Cosby defenders have been unflinching.
Now Whoopi Goldberg joins singer Jill Scott in defecting from Cosby's side. "I gotta say, all of the information that's out there kind of points to guilt," Goldberg finally admitted in an about-face on The View. Of Cosby's prominent public opinion defenders, only Phylicia Rashad remains on the comedian's side. Or at least Rashad hasn't publicly changed her opinion since saying of the alleged victims: "Forget these women."
