Devon Still is a defensive tackle for the Cincinnati Bengals. The 26-year-old from Camden, New Jersey, is also a father. Still has a 5-year-old daughter named Leah who is battling cancer. She went into remission in March but her immune system is still weak. Unfortunately, Leah will not be able to join her father at the ESPY Awards ceremony in Los Angeles where Still will accept The Jimmy V. Perseverance Award on her behalf. Last year, the late SportsCenter anchor Stuart Scott was the recipient. The Award was named after NC State men's basketball coach Jim Valvano, "who delivered an emotional speech at the 1993 ESPYS during his own bout with cancer."
According to Still's Instagram account, Leah is at home in Philadelphia. ESPN reports that in June, Leah came home after a nearly 50-day stay was lengthened because of complications from some of the medicine she was taking." On the day of the ESPYs, Still posted a photo of him and the rest of the family "short on princess." He wrote: She told me to hold it down for us on that stage so that's what I'm going to do! #LeahStrong. " The ESPYs ceremony will air on July 15 at 8pm on ABC.
