The movie Southpaw is about the tragic life of a boxer portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal. Rachel McAdams plays the boxer’s wife. Rapper 50 Cent plays the boxer’s promoter. Fellow rapper Eminem is the executive producer of the Southpaw soundtrack. He just dropped the second track, “Kings Never Die,” which features him and the “calm but soaring hooks” of Gwen Stefani. MTV describes the song as “a not-so-subtle allegory to Eminem’s career – he comes out swinging, psyching himself up while denouncing the haters and asserting his greatness.”
The 14-song Southpaw soundtrack includes contributions from The Weeknd and Action Bronson, among others (see below), but no 50 Cent. What about a remix of Fiddy’s “Don’t Push Me” featuring Eminem? Oh well. The Southpaw soundtrack will be out July 24.
