Rapper 50 Cent is worth $4.4 million according to his lawyer. That’s a lot of money, but it’s fiddy on a benji compared to what the hip hop star is supposed to have socked away. (Fiddy on a Benji, btw, is 50 cents on a hundred dollar bill.) 50 Cent is supposed to be a businessman as much as an entertainer — that’s his rep and his rap. So it’s a low blow to discover that Forbes, which estimated 50 Cent’s worth at $155 million, was off by a cool $150 million-plus. That’s what they call, in financial circles, bad due diligence.
50 Cent’s lawyer made his $4.4 million claim in a Manhattan Supreme Court this week. 50 himself told the court he was in more trouble than just a lack of money indicated. “Now that I filed for bankruptcy, I’m not as cool as I was last week.” Aw, Fiddy, money can’t buy you love. Oh wait, the Beatles were really rich.
