Live by the jump shot, die by the jump shot has resulted in a lot of living for the Golden State Warriors this season. But an NBA truism is you can’t win the championship that way — you’ve got to have a balanced approach and a real inside game when things get tough. Like in the Finals. Well the Finals are here and the jumpers for MVP Steph Curry wouldn’t fall in Game 2, as he shot an abysmal and anomalous 5-of-23 from the field.
It’s been three decades since the Warriors were in a position to win a title — will they panic? Will rookie head coach Steve Kerr change things up? Does center Andrew Bogut suddenly get plays called for him like he’s Hakeem Olajuwon? Unlikely to start, but if the jumpers continue to clang off the rim, the Warriors may find themselves wondering about dying by the jump shot. There’s little worse that a good shooting team gone cold, especially on the road. For Game 3 in Cleveland, it’ll be interesting to see how long the the Warriors can remember to dance with what brung ya.
