NBC News correspondent Lester Holt has been “sitting in” for Brian Williams on NBC Nightly News during Williams' suspension from his post after being caught lying or misremembering his time spent in Afghanistan. On June 19, NBC announced that Holt will take over Williams’ job permanently.
Holt was a reporter and anchor for the Chicago channel WBBM (Channel 2) for 14 years before getting national assignment from NBC News. NBC’s Weekend Today’s former executive producer Dee Dee Thomas called Holt a “rock star” at NBC. When they worked together, Holt was juggling a number of jobs including reporting for WBBM, Weekend Today and the weekend Nightly News. Btw, Holt’s son Stefan Holt is in the biz too. He’s a morning anchor at NBC’s WMAQ (Channel 5).
