According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, at the US National Library of Medicine, the average attention span of a human being is currently eight seconds. In 2000, it was 12 seconds. P.S. A goldfish has an attention span of 9 seconds.
Many people blame the drop on the amount of content now available via the Internet. Content tripled between 2010 and 2013. Social media sharing doubled from 2011 to 2013. And the upward trend continues. But is there any reason why 7 percent of people forget their own birthdays from time to time, or is that selective memory?
