KFC had to woo comedian and impersonator Darrell Hammond with some tricks to get him to play Colonel Sanders in KFC's new advertising campaign. The fried chicken icon has been out of brand circulation for 21 years, so KFC fictionalized a letter from the Colonel's lawyers in which he stated that if he were ever revived, it should be by Darrell Hammond.
The ploy worked and won Hammond over. Or maybe it was the big fat check KFC owner Yum Brands wrote to Hammond. Yes, maybe it was the check! The KFC brand has been losing traction especially with young consumers. Will an old man in a white suit be able to grab their attention? Hammond may have to give his Colonel Sanders a little Sean Connery edge. Isn't that right, Trebek?
