New Kids on the Block was the boy band of the 1980s. The group of kids from Boston — Jordan Knight, Jonathan Kinght, Joey McIntyre, Danny Wood and Donnie Wahlberg — disbanded in the mid 90s but reunited in 2008. They’ve released two albums since and are now on a North American tour, The Main Event, with opening acts TLC and Nelly.

The boy-turned-adult band was recently asked by Yahoo! about the pressure of being in a boy band. Of course Zayn Malik’s recent departure from One Direction came up. Singer-turned-actor Donnie Wahlberg (Blue Bloods) displayed his wonderful sense of humor and said, “It’s Zany….We’re conflicted. It’s not the same.” But he told One Direction fans not to give up hope. “Maybe he’ll come back.” One thing is for sure, according to NKOTB, One Direction is dead tired right now (after their last tour). Wahlberg said, “They need a nap.” NKOTB will perform on the season finale of American Idol on May 13, 8pm on Fox.
