You never get a second chance to make a first impression, goes the saying. But in its big finale, Dancing With The Stars turns this idea on its ear. In most competitions, you can't go back. That Super Bowl interception? That double fault at Wimbledon? No do-overs for things like that. But part of the Dancing With The Stars finale will feature the three finalist couples revisiting a dance they've done earlier this season.
It's not that they need to fix something that's broken -- they're in the finals, after all. But Rumer Willis, Noah Gallagher and Riker Lynch have all become much better dancers as the season has progressed. They're each at the top of their game now, and they get to apply this new skill level to an old routine. To alter it, to perfect it. It's the ultimate do-over! There's a word for this in art: pentimento. It's when the artist alters and adjusts, makes something new out of what was there before, leaving traces of the old. Monday night it's Pentimento on DWTS!
