When asked what one moment on American Idol stands out for him, Clark Beckham said the time judge Harry Connick, Jr. said, “I don’t think you could have done that any better.” Connick said that after Beckham’s performance of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition.” Doing Stevie, Beckham revealed a funkier side of himself and nailed it.
“Harry’s typically been tough on me,” said Beckham. And the young musician values every critique he gets from Connick. Beckham says, “Harry is someone I found myself trying to impress from the beginning. He's like a coach trying to get the best out of me. And I really appreciate that." Sure Nick can strum an acoustic guitar and Jax can play around on the piano but Connick considers Beckham as the best musician on the show. American Idol airs Wednesdays at 8pm on Fox.
