A small herd of buffalo – about 15 — escaped from a farm in upstate New York, just a few miles southeast of Albany (the Rensselaer County town of Schodack). The buffalo crossed a busy section of the New York Thruway.
Mashable reports that a group “gun-wielding farmers” followed the bison (technically they’re bison, but buffalo, in upstate New York of all places, is a more fun description) into the woods and shot the loose animals. Prior to the hunt, Patrick Dodson, a photographer for the local Daily Gazette, asked if he could tag along but the hunters “politely declined” to be photographed.
